Local SEO Foundations
The technical groundwork that decides whether Google can find, understand, and rank the site at all.
Local SEO foundations aren't a marketing add-on — they're structural. Metadata, heading hierarchy, schema markup, and indexing settings determine whether a well-designed site is even eligible to show up for the searches that matter, before ranking factors come into play at all.
This work also includes the pages a location-based business actually needs: service pages built around real search intent, clear internal linking between them, and a site structure a search engine can crawl without guessing what belongs where.
A lot of this is invisible to a visitor and entirely visible to Google — the difference between a page that's technically online and one that's actually eligible to compete for a search result. Skipping it doesn't make the site look worse. It just means the site is invisible for the searches that would have found it.
None of this is a guarantee of a specific ranking — no ethical provider makes that promise. It's the foundation that has to be correct before anything else, including good writing and a strong offer, has a chance to work.
For a local service business, this usually means building out the specific pages that match how people actually search — by service, and often by area — rather than trying to make one homepage do the work of ten pages at once. Each of those pages needs its own title, its own heading, and its own reason to exist, not a copy-pasted template with the city name swapped out.
